Grandpa Fred's Yearbook Pictures

On my trip to Norfolk, I got to look at all four of my grandpa's yearbooks at Norfolk High School. Here are the pictures.

1939 Freshmen class. Fred (Duane) is in the second row in the middle. Looks like a young David Schwimmer.

Close up.

This is when I learned that my grandpa, who I always knew as being called Fred, went by Duane in high school. Likely to distinguish him from his father, Fred. For the 1939 band picture:
Duane Schafer

Classic Cars Show

Every July Norton has a Classic Cars Show.

This mustang owner honked the horn at me and Dancy when we were by it, and it startled Dancy too much. So he offered to let her sit in the car to make amends. She was too upset to accept, but Katie and Tommy didn't mind taking her place.

Purple motorcycle!

We saw Tim's motorcycle! Tim is a friend of ours--Cathie's boyfriend.

Afternoon heat in July is no picnic.

It would've been really good if this phone setting of mine would work to transfer this type of picture, but this was supposed to be a picture with sound. The whole 4 blocks around the courthouse were blocked off to be for the car show, and there was 60's music playing from the courthouse steps. The background music for this picture was "This Magic Moment."
