Colorado, Day 1

We left Thursday afternoon after Shad got off work, and headed west to Mordor.  I'm so glad we went to Garden of the Gods in May, because we sure wouldn't have wanted to this time.  It was exciting to watch our car thermometer drop 20 degrees as we drove.  We really enjoyed the cooler weather.  We spent the evening with Dan and Ryan.  Tommy loves Ryan and he was going to his mom's the next morning for the weekend.

Tommy jumped right into being friends with his cousins, despite the age differences.

Erik gave Tommy lots of piggy back rides.

Katie loved having a new place to crawl around and explore, and she soon found herself stuck behind the couch.  Shad had to go in a rescue her.

After a Tickle Tommy session,

Tommy walked around protecting himself.

Katie, Uncle Jake, and cousin Erik

Katie loved playing in the grass, and even hunted down and ate a rolly polly.

We had a water fight, and Tom loved it!  I love the essence of Tom captured in this picture.

He's so happy to be pinned there against the door and picnic table.  What a silly guy!

Time out for a picture: Erik, Bode, Katie, me, Tommy

Resume the battle!

And then the hose came out...along with the tears.

Erik blowing raspberries on Tom's belly and Tommy saying, "More? More?"

Katie's favorite person of the weekend was my oldest sister's husband.  She cried any time Uncle Erik left her.

Katie had fun playing with Grandpa's beard and soccer shirt.

We walked to the park in the evening to feed the ducks.  Amber had the idea to lure them out of their hideout with a bread crumb trail.

Tom and Aunt Amber feeding the ducks.  He had a lot of fun with it, but when we went home without stopping at the playground, he was upset.  Park=playground to him.
