Moving on to August now, Shad took Tommy and Katie out shooting to test out her little rifle she picked out at a gun store two years ago when she was four. We were planning to save it a little longer, and it turns out we were right. It's too big for her yet. She didn't enjoy it much because of the size difficulty, but Tommy enjoyed it.
That seat is chest high for Samson, and he climbed up there himself!
"Look, Mom! I'm a rhino!" says the girl playing with her baby carrots.
Tommy and Katie built this stage area and used homemade instruments to put on a concert. Apparently, Tommy's style is more Euro metal. "FEEL. THE. FI-RE. IN. YOUR. BONES. GOING. THROUGH. YOUR. BOOOO-DY. FIIIIII-RE. IN. THE. GROUND. FIIIII-RE. UP. UP. HIGH." Etcetera, etcetera. I'll see if we can recreate this to film it. Oh. my. gosh.
And then we went to Colorado for a third month in a row. We visited Park Meadows Mall to go to the Lego Store (nothing new), but more importantly...American Girl!! Katie has been dying to go to a store since our friends Emily and Bonnie told us they had gone to one in Dallas. If you ever want to feel like things in life are way overpriced and you never, ever want to buy toys for your child, I highly recommend the American Girl Store!

The purpose of this Colorado visit was for Dan's wedding. I won't even try to remember what days what events happened. One day we met everyone (Vern, Pris, and Levi; Dan and Ryan; Cherean, David, John, Hyrum, Rachel, and Jayden) at Washington Park for morning play time and a picnic lunch. Lots of playground space for the kids to run around, lots of grass space for the adults to play frisbee.

Samson, being a little brother of three sisters, asked for a ponytail. Katie is the family hairdresser.
It was this ponytail that made me decide he'd be Wesley as The Man in Black (Princess Bride) for Halloween.
He still had to do the finishing touches with a wet brush.
