In Which Samson Wiggin Rides a Train

We listened to Winnie the Pooh this week and each chapter starts with "In Which..." a character does something. So I guess I've got Pooh on the brain because this is the title I came up with!

This two-year-old was overjoyed when we told him after breakfast that we were going to ride a train! It's a public transportation train that runs from Santa Fe to Belen. It costs $9 for adults to ride roundtrip to Albuquerque and kids under age 9 are free. So we paid $18 to take our kids on a train! And Samson was the happiest boy!

This girl has so much spunk and sass.

Thora wanted to take a picture.

"My TRAIN! YOU FOUND MY TRAIN!! Dancy, Megan found my train! Emma, Megan found my train! So that is my train," says the elated two-year-old sitting next to me this very minute.

{Thora and Sam}

Katie and Tommy found a very patient schoolteacher to sit with and talk to the whole way. Her stop was just before Albuquerque. She was very pleasant and seemed to genuinely enjoy their company and conversation.

We had almost two hours to walk around Albuquerque before the train came back. We didn't find any food trucks or local food, so we just ate at Jimmy John's after walking around seeing some of downtown.

Tommy found a guy to sit with and talk to. We think maybe he got off the train early because he didn't want to keep talking. Katie sat with an Australian lady who was traveling around the US. She was very impressed at Katie's comfortability to converse so easily and eloquently with a perfect stranger adult.

Meanwhile, Samson was singing a train song.

When a two-year-old sneezes pupusa on your hand, it's called "shotgun."

We went to the park that night to run out the energy that the kids still had bubbling over in them. Dancy made friends with some Guatemalan ladies who loved her blond hair and blue eyes. They shared Mexican candy with all of us. We had fun talking about kids and life. I always like to explain to Latinos that all white babies are born with blue eyes that later might turn brown or green. It's always fascinating to them.

Thora had to use the port-a-potty at the park. I'd love to educate the person who wrote on the wall and teach the jerk some English. I think you just have to be fluent in your own language if you're going to insult others who aren't.

I'm intrigued by the second apostrophe.

Switch the 'i' and 'u.' Lowercase 't'. Drop the apostrophe. Why the quotation marks? What the heck is up with the mix of lowercase and capital letters?

Also, you can't be putting down Mexicans and say "viva" at the same time. That's just bad form.
