Light Up the Sky Like It's the Fourth of JU-LY!

Our ward had a youth baptism trip for the temple scheduled on July 5th, so we got to spend Independence Day weekend with Shad's family. We drove up July 3rd and came home on the 6th. We love living in states that allow firecrackers:)

We did do more than just sparklers, we just only took pictures of the sparklers because that's what was interactive for Tom and Katie.

Dancy absolutely LOVES Levi! She will choose him over me or Shad. We've never seen her bond to someone like that before, and she's been doing it since January. Unfortunately, Levi chose to spend Friday and Saturday night at a friend's house in York instead of with family that was visiting from out of town. So we really only saw him one day.

Grapes and chess after firecrackers.

This perfectly depicts how Dancy feels about her blankie.

The morning of the 4th, we went "downtown" to see the parade. Tom and Katie had so much fun waving to all the floats, and then collecting candy from the street that was thrown from floats, as well as a rain gauge, thermal cup, two Frisbees, popsicles and mardi-gras style bead necklaces. They loved it!

Dancy is happy, she's just squinting into the sun.

I was trying to get a smile out of Katie for the camera, so I gave her the photo prompt: "Show me how happy you are!" And this is what she did.

I think he's moping about not being allowed to participate in knife throwing.

We had fun throwing knives in the afternoon.

I got pretty good, and the last two times I threw I got 3 for 3 in the target box.

Tom and Katie are quite obsessed with volcanoes right now, so Pris suggested we make one. She dug a hole and mounded dirt up on a plastic water bottle to make it look like a volcano. Tom helped me pour in the baking soda and vinegar.

Master griller...who uses premade burger patties:)

Tom was thrilled with the "picnic." He loves eating outside any chance he gets.

Eating watermelon popsicles while watching more firecrackers.

Trying to light 6 sparklers at the same time.

Love this girl! She went from whimpering at every sound, to not being phased at all, and then even enjoying and clapping her hands!
